33 weeks cooked

a couple weeks ago, we had a sunny spring day and josh urged me to come straight home after work so that we could make it to the botanic gardens in time for peak bloom of the cherry blossoms. he kept stressing how amazing it was that my body is blooming and so is our local botanical garden. since we live walking distance from the garden, we are going to become a members so we can chill there wee one this summer. it’s been very busy preparing for the baby, but i’m going to try to do a best of rundown of my favorite maternity outfits. i’ve been wearing a lot of stretchy dresses, leggings and managed to find a sweet vintage dress that  works now and will work post bump as well. most of my spare change has been going into saving, paying off debt, . . .

29 weeks cooked…

it’s really starting to feel like i’m going to be someone’s mommy pretty soon. i’m very curious to meet this little one. i can’t believe how fast this babe is growing. i have any where between eleven to thirteen weeks left to cook this baby. i’m really glad this little one will arrive right as summer begins. braids! i will likely be rockin braids on and off for a while so that i can focus on finishing all my projects for the babe’s arrival and then once he or she is here, it’ll be too crazy for me to care for my hair the way i’d like to. so here i am in yet another stretchy outfit. so far i’ve purchased one pair of maternity jeans. everything else has been regular clothing that stretches and over-sized blouses. I may get another pair of pants, but for the most . . .

SXSW 2013

thank you so much for all the positivity. my spirits are on the up and up. i’m so glad that there are ebbs and flows to everything really and i count my blessings that the good times far outweight the more challenging ones. so…this pregnant lady had no idea what to pack for austin. while i wouldn’t typically go for tight stretchy skirts they seem to be working for me (at least for now). josh and i had a blast in austin. i am incredibly proud of him and so glad that i could be there for his screening. we saw as many films as time would allow, ate from the food trucks, took a ride to one of the theaters on a bicycle rickshaw and stayed in a really sweet garden cottage. on the way home i somehow ended up in the first seat on the plane . . .

Six Months Cooked

so i wanted to see if i could pull off a crop top preggers and all, and i happen to come across one at beacon’s last week.  i wore this last saturday for my friend’s 30th bday and then again on sunday for my friend’s fried chicken and mac n cheese brunch. there was some raw kale salad and fruit to balance things out. back to back festivities wear me out these days, hence the sleepy eyes, but i couldn’t resist surprising my friend and errm free range pastured fried chicken–definitely worth dragging myself out for that. i have a few trips lined up that i’m really excited about. i’m headed to texas, yes texas! i’ve never been, but that will change come thursday, josh’s film  krs one: brooklyn to the bronx is in the sxsw festival. i can’t wait to get down south for warmer weather and . . .

A Bit Wintry

i have been rocking this coat all winter like it’s my job. it’s so heavy and warm.  i lurve it, i really do. i scored this one at a church thrift store in new hampshire last winter after a snowboarding trip.  i’ve only spotted two people with the same coat. a random woman in caroll gardens and ashley of fancy fine. my poor other coats are so jealous, they really aren’t getting any play. i need to seriously give this one a rest but it’s either this or my snowboarding jacket because i just can’t sacrifice being cold. this coat was 20 bucks well spent.

after storm nemo josh and i took a walk in prospect park. it’s been so cold but we’ve had very little snow. i have to admit it took a lot for me to leave the comforts of my warm and cozy . . .

Mama Bear…Baby Bear

so i randomly walked into a new thrift shop on fifth avenue in park slope and scored this tweed coat for five bucks. there were some gross tissues in the pocket and car keys, i took this coat straight to the dry cleaners the same day. it still has an old lady smell that i hope will go away after being aired out in this brutally cold weather. i got this sweater for myself for valentine’s day last winter and whaddayaknow…here i am about to be a mama bear. i love pocketless pants, you may remember how crazy i was about my brown pants that eventually split. well i now have them in black and in navy. they were thirteen bucks at h&m and i must confess, i also got a navy and black pair for when i go back to . . .

Wedding Guest Outfit Series…VII

my tailor was one of the first people that i told, that i was trying to have a baby. back in july when i got this dress tailored, i made sure to make sure he gave me some wiggle room because i knew i’d be wearing it for a november wedding. surprisingly, i found out i was pregnant the day of the wedding. so there was no drinking for me. i didn’t know it then, but i was eight weeks. in these photos i’m seventeen weeks. all told, i think he did a great job. what was really special about this wedding was that the bride is a childhood friend. i’ve known her longer than any of the other people who’s weddings i attended. she had a brooklyn celebration, a ceremony in mexico (that we couldn’t swing), and berkeley celebration. we were so excited for the brooklyn . . .

Quirky Secretary…

i’d like to think that i was doing pretty okay with the whole clean look. just didn’t last that long. i’m too much of a scatter brain to be consistent with what i wear, but i do like to think that what i wear is me. it took forever, but i finally took this skirt to get tailored and couldn’t resist wearing the whole shebang. way back i wore the blouse and i have to admit the whole thing is pretty crazy. i think i’ll tone the skirt down with a white blouse or tank in the spring. i was a secretary for a real estate company during the first two summers of high school. i dressed nothing like this. i would grab whatever i could find and drag myself to work. many of the agents just checked their messages and the broker just needed someone to answer . . .

Dotted

these pants reminded me so much of the ones i saw on the madewell site and while on a trip to target in which i intend to just have a “look,” at the clothing section.  i ended up coming home with these. i’m getting much better at not being and impulse buyer. i really thought this one through, it was much more affordable than the pair i originally wanted. i wore this outfit to work and then again during our trip to atlanta for thanksgiving. yes, these pics are not in nyc, neither was the last outfit post. we were in atl for thanksgiving. all the leaves were peaking and the weather was perfect. i had so much fun hanging out with my old college friend who lives down there and of course josh’s 92 year old granny. nothing like a southern thanksgiving. the pecan pie . . .
