this is hands down the best short film ever made. if you’d like to take a tour of paris in the late 50′s, then you must see this film. i first saw this in french class, in high school and to see it again was even more impressive and magical.
the red balloon remains one of the most beloved children’s films of all time. in this deceptively simple, nearly wordless tale, a young boy discovers a stray balloon, which seems to have a mind of its own, on the streets of paris. the two become inseparable, yet the world’s harsh realities finally interfere.

OMG, I saw this in French class too! I have not seen it in so long. You are correct, it is magical, I would probably appreciate it more now then I did back then.
