my friend moved into a beautiful brownstone and this skirt was left behind by the previous owner. my friends tend to give me things they’ve outgrown, things they feel are too good to give to goodwill and in one instance i inherited a vintage purse and a pair of shoes from my sister’s friend who was cleaning out her mom’s apartment. while i gladly accept these gifts, typically they aren’t pieces i would necessarily buy. so my challenge was to figure out how to style this red skirt. somehow, although it wasn’t my intention, it turned out a bit americana. anyhow, i really love the skirt, it’s felt, but it looks like suede, it’s zippered in the back and also has a drawstring at the waist line. so as many of you may have heard, the north east is getting prepared for hurricane sandy. new york city has been shut down the transit system is closed along with all other forms of public transport. to all those in the tristate area. please be safe. josh and i plan to watch movies and sip warm apple ciderĀ until this hurricane passes.

Love the skirt. Stay safe and inside.
You look great! It fits you so well and I love everything you paired with it. So nice your friends always think of you, fee stuff rocks!

Love the length of the skirt…as they say it’s everything!!! The last picture is gorgeous!
You look lovely! I want a red skirt to pair with a denim top now
Lovely sweater too
I hope that you guys are okay! Sipping hot cider is probably a good plan, hoping everything is well your way!
i think it turned out lovely, especially with the head scarf!
How are you holding up over there? I’ve seen some crazy pictures the last few days. Hope your cider sipping was good at any rate.
Also, I love the little collar under the jacket.
Emily, thanks for asking we are okay. Where we live in Brooklyn is very high up so we had a few fallen trees and debris but that’s it. My parents live on the Rockaway Peninsula and it was hit fairly hard. Since they are between the bay and the ocean the came away fairly unscathed. They don’t have cell phone service, heat or electricity but no damage to their home. Many of my high school friends who live right near the ocean lost their homes. It’s really devastating. Lots of flooding and fires. It’s pretty tough to stomach.
Gosh! You look great and I really hope that you are safe! Take care of you and hopefully no more harm will come to all of you. It’s just awful!
A great, a GREAT sense of style ! You’re stunning !
See U !
