josh and i saw this film a few days ago. it is magnetic and deeply imaginative. both lead characters, quevenzhane wallis and dwight henry are untrained actors, yet portrayed their characters with flawless accuracy. the outreach coordinators of the film explained that the film, “speaks about home, identity, history, mythology, and survival, in a uniquely powerful and personal way.” it is certainly the best film i’ve seen in years. watch the trailer; unlike the average trailer, there are no spoilers, just a feel for the film. go see it!

I’ve been planning to see this movie, but Ramadan and family life have been too consuming. The child actor in the film seems so talented.
this looks like an absolute gem! we are definitely watching it before the baby comes…my fav line, “whose the man?” her response: “i am the man.” AWESOME-ness!!
After wanting to see this for awhile, I just watched this last night–it was so good! I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I love it when that happens with a movie.
