happy halloween folks! i worked this outfit out in my head and was unsure how it would turn out once i threw it on, but i am happy with the results. i typically don’t mix black and brown but it was well executed by annalise, kallie and raquel and i was inspired to try it out. this was my getup for brunch at bubby’s in dumbo yesterday. we had a feast with some friends that were in town that we haven’t seen in a while. this place hast the flakiest buttermilk biscuits ever… and they come out warm and adding more butter and some jam to it is just delicious. after brunch everyone walked over to the carousel for a ride. i hope you all are having a wonderful halloween. what with the new job and all party hopping on a monday, i just couldn’t swing it . . .

we had our first snow of the season today! there was news of snow all week but i just thought it was much too early. it gave me an opportunity to wear this plaid marc by marc jacobs coat that i got from the good will for 20 bucks. i could not be happier with this coat so warm and cozy. big plaid is fun. I love you because no two snowflakes are alike, and it is possible, if you stand tippy-toe, to walk between the raindrops.

if you haven’t seen this coming of age film it’s certainly worth a go. A brutal crackdown on left-wing dissidents by Brazil’s new military dictatorship hardly registers in a country preoccupied with the 1970 World Cup championship. Before 12-year-old Mauro’s radical parents go into hiding, they hastily arrange for their son to stay with his estranged grandfather in another city. Unbeknownst to them, the old man has died, and Mauro (Michel Joelsas) finds himself alone in an alien environment where people speak an indecipherable language called Yiddish. United by a shared passion for all things Pelé, Mauro slowly makes friends in the ethnically diverse neighborhood and develops a bond with the old man next-door. image via, synopsis via

warning this post is photo heavy. there’s a surprise at the end so be sure to scroll all the way down. we went back to jane’s carousel on sunday. this time for a ride. the carousel is just “2 bucks to pony up” not a bad deal. i highly recommend you visit this wondrous carousel. it was such a cool crisp autumn day. i was waiting for a day like this. when you can still tolerate having a chai latte on the patio of a cafe and with every sip it brings a bit of warmth. while riding the carousel the sun was setting over the river and both the manhattan and brooklyn bridge just looked magnificent. i’ve had this skirt for some time and recently got it tailored to fit my natural waist. it fell on the hips/low waist originally but i much rather this fit. . . .

what with halloween around the corner i decided to throw on some orange. what are you guys going to be for halloween? i think i might be mrs. pacman and josh will be one of the ghosts that come out to kill me… we’ll see i’m not dead set on it yet. on to the outfit, i got this little blazer second hand from beacon’s closet this summer. it’s so tiny i definitely wouldn’t buy a blazer that small brand new. that’s the thing about trading clothes or buying them really cheap you can push the limits a bit. i always get nervous that if i buy something the exact size i’ll outgrow it but this fear has decreased quite a bit. it’s been a strange autumn on this end. some unseasonably warm weather and then spring like rainfall. my duck umbrella enjoyed some smooching. . . .
