Le Striped Maxi

I got this maxi dress at Marshalls a few years ago and never wore it. I actually dug it out of my ‘to swap’ bag, just thought it was worth wearing at least once. Its about 4 sizes too big and I thought it wasn’t worth getting tailored so I cast it away. I had my final fitting for my wedding dress this past Saturday and decided to throw this on. These were the only shoes I could wear to avoid the dress dragging on the city street. I also am working on breaking these wedges in. I had such a great time with my bridal crew gals. We had brunch at Freeman’s and after my fitting we checked out Craftacular.  I found the cutest vintage wizard of oz dress for my five year old niece. Can’t wait for her to wear it. In 18 days I’ll . . .

Pink Slip

It’s been raining quite a bit in NYC and all the more reason  for me to wear my “Carmen Sandiego” coat. I’ve been dying to wear this dress. I got it months ago but it was too cold. On unusually warm days, I didn’t have a hot pink slip handy. I found one at Dolly G while searching for a bridesmaid dress with my friend Gabby. Last weekend was a nice balance of work and play. I worked a bit on Saturday and wondered around Nolita returning a bunch of pairs of shoes. I was so indecisive about shoes for my wedding. In the end I chose the least expensive pair as I don’t think I’ll ever wear them again and I suspect they’ll get quite damaged since part of our wedding is outdoors. I also went for my second fitting, which went really well. I have my final . . .

Film Fridays: Jane Eyre

Film Trailer

Last Friday, Josh and I finally got around to seeing Jane Eyre. We both really enjoyed the film Mia Wasikowska was absolutely superb as Jane. Judi Dench, as expected, was as compelling as ever. I have to admit I haven’t read this novel, nor have I seen other versions of this film. So I can’t really compare it to any other works. Josh saw the older version and is a definitely liked this one much more. I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it. The cinematography is just splendid and so are the costumes. The braided buns and milkmaid braids were sweet. In this 2011 version Jane is incredibly fierce. I must read this book now. Maybe on my honeymoon.  I want to get a sense of the mood as it was captured so well in the film. Have you seen this . . .

Hodge Podge

These are all phone photos in case you’re wondering about the quality. This was my work getup and then directly after work we flew down to Atlanta. I think our engagement shoot went well. I had no idea what to wear and kinda regret not going with my first choice but hey…can’t change that now. One good thing, is that I feel 100% about my actual wedding dress. Jesse and Whitney of Our Labor of Love are truly awesome it was a great time. Oh and you can’t tell so well in this photo but that blouse it light grey with white polka dots. This is typical work wear for me since I treat young children I’m always in pants. These pics have a gossip magazine feel to them with that paper cup. I lost my travel mug and was craving some peppermint tea before the flight. Gosh . . .

Automne à la plage

I just found out that we have been offered a weekend stay at our cousins place in The Hamptons. Some of my long time followers may remember when my blog was under construction right after I took that trip. Needless to say I thought it was due time I shared those pics especially since we’re heading out there again next month. It may not be warm enough for us to swim but it certainly won’t be as cold as it was in late October. I really miss the beach and can’t wait to head back. It feels a lot like Autumn in NYC these days…I use to be so good at blogging in real time. Gah! After the wedding I will be back to my normal self. Even as I write this post I’m thinking about the gazillion things I still need to do. I miss my camera! I . . .
